Yuuki Shimizu is a Brooklyn-based cinematographer originally from Tokyo, Japan. His visual sensibility began with photography, where he developed an instinct for observing light, people, and the moments that connect the two. While studying Film & Television at Savannah College of Art and Design, he transitioned into cinematography and found a natural fit in the collaborative process of filmmaking. His work is grounded in a curiosity about people and the world around him, using light and composition to create images that feel intimate, honest, and alive.

Over the past five years, Yuuki has worked across commercial, narrative, music video, and documentary filmmaking, collaborating with brands and publications including Vogue, Nowness Asia, Audio-Technica, Nike, Meta, and Land’s End. His work on the short documentary Just Jacob was recognized by the Television Academy Foundation and won Best Documentary at the Savannah Film Festival. His work has also received recognition from the Berlin Commercial Awards, NFFTY, and the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards.
